About the Role

The High School ESL/ELA Teacher will support multilingual learners in an international school environment, helping students develop the academic English skills needed to succeed across the curriculum. This role focuses on targeted language instruction, collaboration with subject teachers, and fostering student confidence and independence in an inclusive learning community.


The successful candidate should also be able to teach U.S. High School History or Geography.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that build academic reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

  • Assess student language proficiency and use data to inform instruction and track progress.

  • Provide in‑class support and co‑teaching to help students access grade‑level content.

  • Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Collaborate with subject teachers to develop language‑rich learning experiences.

  • Offer small‑group or one‑to‑one support for students requiring targeted intervention.

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and learning goals.

  • Contribute to the development of policies, assessment practices, and curriculum planning.

  • Participate in school events, professional learning, and departmental meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field.

  • Teaching certification or license.

  • Experience teaching ELA/E.S.L. at the secondary level.

  • Strong understanding of language‑acquisition principles and differentiation strategies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multilingual environment.

  • Clear communication skills and a student‑focused approach to teaching.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in TESOL, Education, or a related discipline.

  • Experience working in an international school setting.

  • Familiarity with standardized language assessments.

  • Experience with co‑teaching or integrated support models.
