Head of Social Science

The Head of Social Science leads the Social Science faculty and supports the academic success of students across a range of subjects. This role combines leadership responsibilities with classroom teaching, including the ability to teach at least two of the following IGCSE subjects: Accounting, Economics, or Business Studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Social Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all courses.

  • Teach at least two IGCSE subjects from Accounting, Economics, or Business Studies.

  • Develop and oversee curriculum planning, assessment practices, and instructional strategies within the department.

  • Mentor and support teachers through coaching, professional development, and classroom observations.

  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support learning outcomes.

  • Collaborate with school leadership on academic planning, scheduling, and program development.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students.

  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives, events, and community-building activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in a related subject area (e.g., Accounting, Economics, Business Studies, Social Sciences).

  • Teaching qualification and experience teaching at the IGCSE level.

  • Experience leading a department or taking on significant academic leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment frameworks.

  • Excellent communication and team‑leadership skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in an international school environment.

  • Familiarity with additional Social Science subjects within the curriculum.

  • Experience mentoring or training teachers.
