Business Studies and Geography Teacher - International School

Overview

A British National Curriculum, International School in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Business and Social Studies Teacher to join the school as soon as possible or in January 2027. This opportunity is well suited to a teacher already based in Malaysia who is looking to contribute to a supportive international school community and deliver high-quality teaching within a British curriculum setting.

The successful candidate will create a positive, engaging classroom environment, inspire pupils to become confident learners, and support their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the British National Curriculum for primary pupils

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where all children can thrive

  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress accurately, using data to inform planning and next steps

  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities and learning styles

  • Support the social, emotional, and academic development of each child

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning, and classroom participation

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan curriculum, share good practice, and support whole-school initiatives

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and wellbeing

  • Contribute to school events, enrichment activities, and the wider life of the school

  • Fulfil pastoral and administrative responsibilities in line with school expectations

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or PGCE

  • Recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, or equivalent

  • Experience teaching in a Business and Geography in an international school setting

  • Strong understanding of the British National Curriculum

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Current residence in Malaysia or the ability to start promptly is strongly preferred

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in an international school

  • Experience teaching students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds

  • Familiarity with assessment practices used in British curriculum schools

  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to school improvement initiatives
