SPGS International School Chengdu is the first international school opened in partnership with St Paul’s Girls’ School in London, the UK’s leading academic school. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated founding members of faculty for a number of subject. PGCE or B.Ed graduates with QTS or an equivalent and who are willing to join the new campus in China in August 2024 are encouraged to apply.


The Role


Primary Homeroom Teacher


If you are a highly qualified, dedicated, creative, adaptable and enthusiastic Primary Homeroom Teacher we would like to encourage you to apply.  The successful candidate will be someone who has the ability to lead and inspire children, as well as the willingness to support the ambition and values of the school. 


Responsible to the Head of Junior School and Headmaster.


This role is scheduled to begin in August 2024.


Requirements For This Role

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree with PGCE / QTS or,

  • Bachelor of Education Degree with QTS or similar international primary teaching qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum two years’ teaching experience  

  • Strong knowledge and experience in the KS curriculum framework.

  • A good understanding of how children’s learning is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and to understand the stages of child development.  

Responsibilities:

  • You will have the ability to understand, empathise with and enjoy the culture, ethos and values of SPGS International School Chengdu 

  • You will uphold the Code of Conduct of SPGS International Schools 

  • You will carry out the teaching and professional duties of a class teacher in KS II  and continue to meet the required standards for Qualified Teacher Status and in accordance with the School policies and guidelines.

  • To establish a culture and love of learning and life amongst your students.

  • To produce high quality teaching and pastoral care to the children.

  • To Collaborate with other teachers, especially the Chinese Co-teacher of the classroom, to plan lessons together, share ideas, approaches and professional knowledge

  • You will keep up to date with Department for Education and subject specific developments and lead the department in curriculum knowledge.

  • To comply with the requirements of both of the laws and education policies of the UK and the People’s Republic of China.

  • You will follow SPGS International’s safeguarding policy with regard to the health and safety of children both on and off the School premises when students are under the School’s jurisdiction.

  • You will produce syllabuses, schemes of work, and assessment criteria/plan/materials for KS II in relation to the UK National Curriculum, the curriculum required by the Chinese education authority, and SPGS International’s enrichment and localised curriculum.

  • You will contribute to the design of an innovative and localized SPGS International curriculum for KS II pupils to enable them to flourish and achieve their potential in both academics and life.

Salary and Benefits:

A competitive package is available, with a salary commensurate with the nature and seniority of the post and the experience of the successful candidate. In addition to a highly competitive salary, benefits include:


  • 25,000 - 39,900 RMB / month - base salary, plus end of year incentive

  • 6,000 RMB / month - Housing and utilities allowance,

  • Relocation allowance,

  • Annual airfare allowance,

  • Visa assistance allowance,

  • Medical insurance.

  • Tuition support will be provided for school age children, following HR policies.

  • Holidays are in line with the school calendar.
